I believe Chris McCandless thought he was ready for survival with what little had. I feel like he believed that he was ready to live alone with no one to take care of him, but himself. He knew what he was bringing and wanted to see if it would work. Chris is unique to me, with what he did with himself. Taking little supplies to live alone in the wilderness, its a very simple life to Chris. To me, Chris knew exactly what he was doing and he had it all planned out to live in the wilderness. Things just would surprise him. I believe he knew he might die in the wilderness, but then again I believe he just wanted to live a natural simple life to himself. Just wanting to find himself in the wild. Simple life may seem easy to Chris in his mind and that's what he wanted to do.
My opinion on the book is that I loved the way he started the book, because he makes me want to read more and more about it. It makes me want to know why he died and how he did die. It's simply a tease to me, because I really want to know how he died on the bus. He was dead on the bus for a while and I want to know how? It bugs me not to know why or how he died. This is exactly why I love to read books. The curiosity the book gives off and the questions that pop in your head as I read along. I love it and I'm glad he put the book in this fashion. I believe he put it in this fashion is because of the reasons I just listed. It makes people want to read more and it makes people who read the book look forward to the next page or chapter. This is why I believe Jon Krakauer wrote the book in this fashion for people to read more.
I was so confused when I read this quote. He needs help, of course. He says he is near death and is too weak to hike out of there and says, "THIS IS NO JOKE." I thought ok, he really needs help now, whats going to happen to him, but then he says he is out collecting berries? "What in the world just happened" is what I was thinking when I read this quote. It nearly drove me insane, because I didn't understand what he meant by it. He is begging for help and states clearly that he is to weak to even hitch hike out of there is confusing!? Then he says he will return this evening as if someone was there with him waiting for Chris to come back or something. I don't get why he would say something in the beginning of the note like that, and then say he is collecting berries? What? I really want to know what this quote means and I'm eager to find out what it does mean.

Into the Wild
I really amazed myself about my own opinion on this book. I thought at first that it was going to be boring and not interesting one bit, but I was wrong. I really do like this book and I've only read the first 3 chapters. Into the Wild is very intriguing, because I have tons and tons of questions to ask about why Chris McCandless ran off and wanted to go into the wild. After all, my opinion on the book so far is that he is a noble man to me and I feel like he is compassionate about humankind. I feel this way, because I don't think any other man would give all of his college fund money or any money away to anyone; or just disappear away from his family. I know I'm really going to like this book.
I believe Chris McCandless was looking for a new life. I feel like he just wanted to be away from everyone and to be on his own.He just wanted to live in the wild. His new life to him seemed to be among living in the woods with himself and the wilderness. I support this is way from the book. His exact words to his parents were, "I think I'm going to disappear for awhile." After all, he did change his name to Alex Supertramp. He wanted nobody to find him, he didn't write his parents anymore from what I have read. It just seems that he didn't want anyone to take care of him anymore; to just live in the wild. Maybe he had the urge to just live there, like his conscience telling him to move there. I think people go on this type of journey, because they feel the need too. They feel the need to get out and just live wild to see how hard or how easy it would be without nothing thats in their name basically. I think this is why people do this sort of thing.
